Michael E. Stieber, Chief Scientist
& President
Michael founded Apollo Systems Research Corporation and leads the
company as Chief Scientist and President. Michael is a veteran of the
space program with more than 20 years of experience in research and
development, systems engineering and project management. His technical
specialties are mathematical system theory, control and robotics.
While working for the Canadian
Space Agency, the Communication Research Centre (Ottawa,
Canada) and the former Spar Aerospace (Toronto, Canada, now MD
Robotics), he has contributed to a number of 'world firsts' in
technology. On the
$1.4 billion Canadian Space
Station Program, Michael was Manager, Robotics Engineering and Manager,
Systems Engineering, developing the space robots “Canadarm2”
and
“Dextre”,
as well as several other flight elements that were launched to the
International Space Station in 2001 and 2002. This robotic system has
since
successfully carried out numerous assembly
and maintenance operations aboard the Space Station.
Michael
holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and has published 29 technical
papers on space robotics, sensor fusion and spacecraft control. Michael
holds two patents on vehicle control systems.

Brian Murphy, Chief Financial
Officer
A co-founder of Apollo, Brian has more than 12 years of experience
working with start-up
companies ranging from high technology to retail, including a company
which
commercialized a consumer beverage in the United States and went
public. Recently, Brian spent 3 years as CFO helping grow a biotech
incubation center.
Brian obtained his CMA designation in 1988 and has
over 25 years experience investing in equity markets.

Peter Lood, Group Leader
Peter joined in 2004 to lead the Financial Engineering
Laboratory. Prior to this role, Peter was the Chief Investment Officer
and Head of Quantitative Development for the Quantitative Asset
Management Group (QAMG) in Toronto; an asset management firm
specializing in quantitative trading
strategies and techniques. Prior to this, Peter was the Director of
Currency Derivatives at Scotia Capital Markets in Toronto, Canada. He
spent four years in Tokyo, Japan, where he held the position of Chief
Trader, foreign exchange trading at the Bank of Nova Scotia.
Peter graduated from the University of
Western Ontario with an Honour’s Bachelor’s of Arts
degree
in Economics specializing in Monetary Theory. He is also a graduate of
INSEAD in Fountainbleu, France, with courses in Option Theory and
Advanced Risk Management.
